Plans are fully underway for a new year of Camp Magic fun. The staff are already thinking of the amazing things they will bring to the children for our season of summer magic in three locations!

We will announce the 2010 theme, staff, and two new overseas campuses on March 25. Registration begins at this time.

If your are unfamiliar with our program, please go to our Camp Magic website to have a look and learn about some of the things that we do.

Parents enjoyed welcoming the groups of children at our Gypsy Caravan performances with a bit of rhythm and drum

Six months ago Singapore's first children's street theatre ensemble, BOOM DAH! was created at studio inthegroove.

The children have been learning amazing group cross-rhythms with drums and unique percussion instruments, plus stilt walking. We will add ribbon poi to our repertoire of tricks in our January/February session.

We currently have 3 spaces available in BOOM DAH! for children who are interested in joining our group (for ages 6-12 years).

Please contact us at 9008 5484 or
e-mail us if your child would like to join. Practice sessions are on Thursdays from 4:00pm - 5:30pm.

Our young stilt walkers
are very brave and talented

Rhythm is created on djun djun's, djembe's, and
anything that goes
"BOOM DAH!"

There is drumming...

...and even dressing up
some evenings. Almost
anything can happen
at WOW!

Our WOW! Women's Drumming continues on Thursday evenings, beginning January 21st. We are currently accepting enrollments and payments for sessions one and two. Please see below for term dates.

We begin at 7:30pm. Price includes use of all instruments, class instruction, tea and goodies after class. No previous experience necessary.
Session 1 January 21, 28 and February 4, 11 (4 weeks) for $180

The Transforming Teepee

At studio inthegroove we have designed and sewn beautiful teepees for children. An amazing tool to create for both the home and classroom. They come in an assortment of colours and can be magically transformed into 10 different play functions. Contact us to discover more.
The Rainbow Lotus Project
The Rainbow Lotus Project helps to bring books and other educational supplies to children in Laos.

Our Gypsy Wish Flags and Ribbon Poi sales help to fund this project. We sell directly from the studio or by mail order. Also, if you attend Centre Stage, the ribbon poi are for sale in the office.

Gypsy Wish Flags

A lovely adornment over windows, doorways, to decorate a birthday morning, even something to sling across the bunk-bed. Colours are vibrant and fun for both boys and girls.

A huge assortment of colour combinations available

The Wish Flags are made using beautiful fabrics, and are lined with calico. Different combinations of ribbons accompany a strand of seven flags. Many people have purchased these as a unique gift for both children and adults. Make a wish, hang the flags, and may those wishes all come true!

Ribbon Poi

Young children swing them, older children can technically fling them! They look pretty blowing in the breeze, or lying in a heap on the table. Also available in blue, green, purple, and Chinese New Year Red (wonderful to decorate your child's pre-school parade!)

Beautiful Ribbon Poi

These poi are made especially for children, as the tops are filled with fabric and polyfill. This makes them soft and easier to use.

Easy to use, and great outdoor activity
Rainbow Lotus Project Meets Big Brother Mouse

This year we will be directly supporting the children of Laos through Big Brother Mouse. Please see their website if you would like to learn more.

We are still on the lookout for additional volunteers to help out with our project. Do come to our next meeting if you have a chance. It will be held in the studio on Wednesday, January 27 at 1:15pm.

With the help of Rainbow Lotus, these classrooms will be filled with wonderful supplies for the children

By Katherine McLeod

As some of you know, I gave birth to a lovely little girl, Billie Phoenix, nearly 21 months ago. Being our third child, I figured I had this whole mothering thing worked out.

What I soon discovered however was this magnificent illusion my "all knowing" mind had mysteriously created. In fact the more I thought I knew about being a mother, the more I realized I had to learn.

On a road trip to Canberra, Australia last April we stayed in a serviced apartment with enormous sliding mirror doors. Billie, who was still crawling at the time, came across this amazing other little person! She spent a great deal of time smiling at her, admiring her outfit, even giving her a great big kiss.

When I looked back at these pictures I couldn't help but beam inside and out. It is our children whom we thank, isn't it, for helping to teach us and reveal the truths anew each and every day. Through a simple smile, and beautiful kiss, it is ultimately this self love that leads us back to who we really are.

May you all have a wonderful New Year ahead, and enjoy your own roads of discovery.
